We must say it loud and clear – we all are Ukrainians Now

In the early morning hours of February 24th 2022, Russia launched a large-scale military invasion in its neighboring country the Ukraine. Over the past few days, Russia has been sending troops from multiple fronts and firing missiles on several locations within Ukraine. This invasion has set loose a humanitarian catastrophe which Europe has not seen in decades. Innocent civilians are losing their lives daily and are compelled to leave their homes to escape the proceeding war. Most of them are fleeing to either Poland, Hungary, Romania or Slovakia. To date, current events have forced over 500.000 people, mostly women and children to flee Ukraine, while men aged 18 to 60 have been prohibited from leaving the country after the declaration of martial law. It is expected that up to 4 million refugees will flee Ukraine in the following weeks.

The Wysokie Obcasy Foundation is an NGO associated with the largest Polish newspaper, Gazeta Wyborcza, established to fight for human rights, equality and democratic values. We reach millions of people with our journalistic work, arguing that the condition for the existence of a civil society is disagreement with exclusion and discrimination. Therefore, the Wysokie Obcasy Foundation has established a fundraiser to support Ukraine. All collected funds will be donated to charity organizations focusing on helping refugees and victims of the war in Ukraine.
